Turmeric has a peppery aroma and a warm, musky flavor. It is often substituted for the more expensive spice, Saffron. Some say the flavor and color are the same. Turmeric is a staple of Moroccan dishes and is one of the key ingredients to Ras el Hanout. Often it is used to flavor lamb and vegetables. In Indian cooking, it is added to rice dishes and curries.

Did you know that Turmeric is also prized for natural skin care? Turmeric is effective in the treatment of acne due to antiseptic properties. It also helps control oily skin by regulating the production of sebum (an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands). Combined with Rhassoul, it is an excellent exfoliate. With over two dozen anti-inflammatory properties, Turmeric fights free-radicals which contribute to the aging process.

Simple Mask Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 old t-shirt to wear because turmeric can stain your clothes (Don't worry, not your face!)

4 Tablespoons Rhassoul Clay
1 Tablespoon of Turmeric Powder
1 Tablespoon Argan Oil
3 Tablespoons Yogurt
1 Tablespoon Raw Honey
Enough Whole Milk for the consistency you prefer

Mix in bowl. Apply to face and neck. Let sit for 10 to 20 minutes. Apply warm washcloth and rinse. Pat dry.

If there happens to be any residual yellow, simply wipe your face with a cotton ball dabbed in either Rose Water Skin Toner for normal to dry skin - or - Orange Water Skin Toner for normal to oily skin.
